Details and Structure

Program Objective: The Essence Academy Hifz Program is designed to help students memorize the Holy Qur’an completely, learn to recite it with proper tajweed, and integrate its teachings into their daily lives with a strong foundation of moral and spiritual values. Our approach combines traditional and modern methods while considering individual learning needs.

Program Structure:

1. Hifz Options:
   • No Boarding Program Available: Our programs are tailored for school-going students, typically held after school hours and on weekends.
   • Daytime Hifz Program: Designed for students engaged in homeschooling, this program runs on specific weekdays during daytime hours.
   • Custom Programs for Adults: Individualized plans are created for adults to accommodate their work and daily schedules.
2. Trial Period:
   • Each student starts with a one-month trial period to ensure compatibility with the program.
3. Hifz Duration and Daily Schedule:
   • Full-Time Hifz: Typically completed within 1-2 years.
   • Hifz Alongside School or Work: Depending on individual performance, this may take 4-5 years. A minimum of 1.5 hours of daily memorization is recommended for such arrangements.
4. Understanding the Qur’an Alongside Memorization:
   • Students are guided to grasp the meanings of the Qur’an through selected vocabulary and basic grammar rules.
   • This incremental approach helps students understand what they are memorizing, making the process more engaging and meaningful.
5. Teaching Methodology:
   • Memorization begins with the 30th Juz, starting from Surah Nas, followed by the 29th and 28th Juz. Chapters like Yasin, Tabarak, Nabaa, and Fath are also included in the initial phase.
   • Once this stage is completed, the student’s readiness is assessed before moving on to the long-term goal of memorizing the entire Qur’an, starting from Surah Baqarah.
   • Students recite each portion to their teacher before memorization to ensure accuracy and avoid mistakes.
   • Daily sessions include reviewing newly memorized portions along with segments from previous lessons to reinforce retention.
   • Teachers focus on specific verses to deepen understanding, enhancing motivation and making memorization an enjoyable process where students feel they are continually learning something new.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Age 11 and above.
• A strong desire to memorize the Qur’an and a conducive learning environment.
• The ability to fluently and easily read the Qur’an.

Program Duration:

• Full-time Hifz: 1-2 years.
• Hifz alongside school or work: 4-5 years.

Location: Essence Academy offers in-person classes at its Houston and Austin branches, along with online options for remote learners.

Application and Enrollment: Applications can be submitted through our website at essenceqa.org. A placement test will be conducted during registration to assess the student’s current level.
